Le livre a deux tranches, s’ouvrant ainsi des deux côtés. Tous les dialogues du personnage d’Archie s’ouvrent à gauche et ceux de Wendy à droite.

Une typographie est attribué à chaque personnage et leurs dialogues sont placés en fonction de la scène du film, grossis ou réduis selon la place qu’occupent les personnages dans le champ. Le texte prend ici la place d’acteur au dialogue. L’intérieure de chaque page contient la scène du film correspondant au dialogue traité.

Les textes ont d’abord étés imprimés puis placés derrière différents récipients remplis d’eau pour obtenir leurs déformations, photographiés et re-dessinés à l’ordinateur, tout cela pour rejoindre le titre du film mais aussi parce que l’on ne peut pas communiquer correctement sous l’eau.
